Today I’m going to share with you ten super easy ideas that you can do yourself to create an aesthetic bedroom. These ideas will instantly make your bedroom look elegant and luxurious.
It’s definitely possible to have cozy and aesthetic rooms in your house, and you can achieve it very easily by using your creativity and using what you have in a smart way.
9 Aesthetic Bedroom Ideas
Use Your Bed
This is the focal point of your space and it needs special attention. It’s important to bring life to the back wall, whether it’s with textured wallpaper, a painting, art prints, a unique color, gallery walls, or a headboard.
Photowall offers a wide variety of wall art to create beautiful accents in any bedroom. Check out some of these beautiful designs.
I have received a few canvas prints from Photowall and I can definitely vouch for their excellent customer service and incredible product quality. So, if you’re thinking about sprucing up any space in your home, you can rely on Photowall to make it happen.
Of course, it’s also important to dress the bed well to elegantly emphasize that area. Dressing the bed shouldn’t be done impulsively. Avoid buying the first set of sheets or quilt. If you want everything to look cohesive, choose colors and textures that complement your color palette and, most importantly, the style of your bedroom.
Bedding should be evaluated like any other object. There are options in velvet, with embroidered strips, and more. But there are also pieces in cotton, linen, and even with freer and fresher prints, which are perfect for more relaxed and free styles.
There is no better choice than the other; they are all beautiful. However, there will usually be one that suits your bedroom and the room you want to achieve.

A very important design tip for an aesthetic bedroom regardless of your style, I advise you to go with neutral colors as a base and leave color, texture, and patterns for small elements. This gives you versatility to combine while achieving an elegant, timeless look with just a few pieces.
Start with a light base; white sheets are ideal and easy to wash and keep clean. In fact, they are my favorites for achieving a fresh and pleasant style. Add another layer using a duvet or quilt.
If you opt for a duvet, make sure it is of high quality and has a filling that provides visual volume and a comfortable feel when touched. Choose a bedspread in a solid color or a neutral color. You can complement it with an additional quilt or blanket, and this one can have texture, pattern, or color that creates contrast.
Remember, the juxtaposition of textures is what makes a space feel pleasant and interesting. Your pillows should match, not stand out. If you want to add a special color, you can do it. And here’s a design and cost-saving tip: when pillow covers look worn out and the sheet set is still in great condition, you can simply buy a set of pillow covers in a special color.
This allows you to keep using what you have while combining them with cushions to emphasize the focal point and instantly refresh the appearance of your bedroom with a minimal investment. If your style is minimalist, you don’t have to use cushions. Make sure to have fun and experiment with different textures, colors, and patterns to create a space that truly reflects your style and personality.
Use Texture and Color
Texture and color are design tools that evoke certain emotions, and when misused, they can ruin everything. An aesthetic bedroom, allows neutral colors, preferably light or pastel tones, to dominate the space.
If you like bold colors, use them in small details rather than large proportions. And when it comes to textures, always include warm or soft textures that are pleasing to the eye and touch. But before decorating, it’s important to establish a color palette, textures, and even the type of furniture that will guide us from the macro to the micro.
Now, I know some of you might think this is too complicated. Here’s my secret: I always start with creating a mood board or an inspiration board. And no, I don’t have a magic wand that instantly combines everything, but I do have a tool that I love to use for designing and creating moodboards: Canva.
Canva is a multi-purpose tool for any creative project. With it, you can create mood boards, visualize your color palette and furniture, and even add links to the things you’re going to buy online. I love using Canva to create moodboards because it allows me to visualize my ideas before making a purchase. This ensures that I end up with a space that is exactly how I dreamed and planned it.
The best part is, Canva has a unlimited free version to try.
For example, here’s a Japandi neutral color palette.
See how easy it is to establish? Neutrals dominate and are used for the walls, furniture, and other larger objects. And from there, you can establish your secondary colors (like cookie dough and dark olive), which you’ll use when incorporating details like cushions, bedding, and even greenery.
This is crucial to ensure that everything comes together harmoniously. So, when you go to the store to buy something, you already know what color to choose. That’s how important it is to plan colors and textures. If you wanbt to learn more about color tips, check out this blog post.
Add Decor Pieces
There are things that work and also add beauty to your bedroom, like functional home decor items. So why not use them? For example, avoid plastic baskets or boxes.
Instead, opt for baskets made of natural fibers or materials that add beauty and harmonize with the decor. The same goes for trash bins.
Don’t settle for plastic or even worse, a color that doesn’t match anything. It’s better to use a basket that you already have at home and aren’t taking advantage of.

Every detail makes a difference, the more attention we pay to the small things, the more elevated our bedroom looks. Because everything feels thought out and in its rightful place. Our relationship with objects is also part of the perception of the space.
Some details I like to include in a bedroom are decorative paintings. They add an interesting touch of color and personality to the bedroom. You can even create them yourself or buy posters that match your colors and style.
Since it’s a very intimate and personal area, it’s also valid to use family photos. But if you do, do it with grace. Use a frame and even a print of the image with shades that match your decor.
For example, black and white photos or ones with very low saturations. You can even create a gallery that combines family photos with other types of images, like flowers or landscapes. This makes the composition of an aesthetic bedroom feel much lighter, fun, and relaxed.
Chests and boxes are also excellent details that are super functional and contribute to the aesthetics of the bedroom. For example, these types of chests help you organize your jewelry but also add light because of their metal finish. Trays are also great. I love them because they add color and texture to the space while helping you group elements and organize surfaces.
This is especially useful in the vanity area and bedside table. For example, I absolutely love the texture of straw to add warmth. This beautiful natural fiber weave that has become incredibly popular in recent years.

Vases and flowers are also excellent for adding interest to a bedroom. Personally, they are my favorite accessory for decorating any space because vases can really represent your style in a distinct way.
They help create visual weight and interesting focal points. For example, you can have an arrangement at the foot of the bed or on the bedside table with natural elements or a fresh flower arrangement, adding softness, beauty, and fragrance. It’s a small detail that greatly elevates the perception of space.

Plants in interesting containers can also be an excellent option. Coasters are also elements that you can have accessible on your bedside table or in your reading area. They can add texture and color while also being functional, as they protect your surfaces.
Similarly, covers for disposable tissue boxes are small details that are often not expensive but are fundamental pieces to tie the look of an asthetic bedroom. Remember, the details are not just details – they are the design.
So, when you are considering adding or buying pieces or details, think about how they solve a functional need while also enhancing the beauty of your bedroom. In fact, I believe that is the most common mistake when decorating – buying things solely based on functionality without considering their visual appeal, or vice versa. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can find things that are functional for you and also beautiful.
Get Rid of Visible Cables
Just because it’s your bedroom and only you see it, doesn’t mean you should leave them out in the open. Quite the opposite! Your bedroom is a special place for relaxation, and the last thing you need is visual clutter.
You can use cable channels or moldings, which are plastic or metal pieces that can be mounted on the wall. They even come with adhesive and can be painted to match the wall. This is much better than having a mess of cables, especially if you have a TV in your bedroom.
For lamps or other devices, you can hide the cables behind furniture such as the TV stand or nightstands. Let’s keep your bedroom tidy and peaceful!
Add a Rug
When it comes to decorating a bedroom, the difference lies in the rug. And let me tell you, choosing and using it correctly is a breeze! Just follow a few essential rules. First, make sure to pick the right size.
The rug should extend around the bed by at least 17 inches (45 centimeters) on each side, so you can step on it as soon as you wake up. Second, consider the material that best suits your needs and style.
It should match your color palette and its texture or pattern should harmonize with the entire decor. If you want the rug to be a bold and vibrant focal point, go for a daring design. On the other hand, if you prefer the focal point to focus solely on the headboard, opt for a more discreet pattern and color.
Don’t forget to think about the maintenance needed for the rug. If easy cleaning is a priority, choose synthetic fibers or short pile. Another option for using rugs is to place a rectangular one on one side of the bed if it’s a single bed, or one on each side for a double bed. This is also a stylish way to decorate with rugs, but remember to consider their color and texture too.

Opt for a Slipper Chair
When it comes to furnishing your bedroom, don’t overlook the versatility and charm of auxiliary seats.
Whether it’s a bench at the foot of your bed, ottomans in an adjacent area, or even stools, these pieces serve multiple purposes. They provide a convenient spot to put your bag, slip on your shoes, prop up your feet while reading, or simply take a seat without dirtying your bed.
You’ll particularly appreciate them after coming in from outside. Additionally, they work wonders in a vanity area, serving as functional and stylish pieces that can easily be moved around to suit your needs. These ottomans and benches come in a variety of styles, colors, and textures, allowing them to also serve as decorative accents in their own right.
Choose a model that complements your bedroom decor and use it to add a touch of style. They can even double as alternative bedside tables or side tables. Plus, ottomans often come with hidden storage, making them an excellent option for storing bedding, blankets, or even shoes.
Jazz up your bedroom with a pop of color that reflects your personality. And remember, these versatile pieces not only add practicality but also personality to your space.

Add Lamps and Lighting
Lighting is the secret weapon to transform any space from ordinary to extraordinary. Besides creating a relaxing atmosphere with soothing tones, it’s perfect for adding unique pieces that give a spectacular touch to your design.
First things first, let go of the idea of having a single light source in the center of the ceiling. Instead, mix and match lamps on your bedside table with a floor or wall lamp. Distribute them evenly throughout the space.
Of course, decorative lamps should match your style, but they don’t have to be all the same. In fact, having a perfectly coordinated set of identical lamps is outdated. Achieving a contemporary, relaxed, yet luxurious look is all about asymmetrical balance.
“But what does asymmetrical balance mean?” you might ask. It means you can play with different lamps on each side of the bed.
You can break free from symmetry! The key is to ensure both sides have visual weight balance. Don’t overload one side and leave the other side empty. If you place a large lamp on one side, you can complement the other side with a lighter lamp to add balance and all around ambient lighting.
However, make sure to add another element with visual weight, such as a vase with flowers or a table with more visual interest. This way, you’ll achieve balance between both sides.
If you want something a little more abstract, you can opt for fairy lights/string lights, LED strips, or even neon signs!

They should start off similar but visually distinct, and don’t just randomly combine lamps randomly. They should always have some connection, whether in shape, color, texture, or even with other elements in the space. Another option that I love, especially for an aesthetic bedroom, is using LED lamps.
They have a simple look and you can place them facing the wall to achieve diffuse lighting. And guess what? You can control the color temperature and intensity from your phone!
There are also smart bulbs that you can add to your conventional lamps, allowing you to control your lighting right from your phone. This is incredibly important for an aesthetic bedroom because it gives you the ability to create a relaxing environment.
Choose the Right Curtains
Curtains are an essential element in bedroom decor. Here’s a quick practical guide to help you decorate like a pro:
Measure and Extend: Ensure your curtains extend at least 15 centimeters from both sides of your window. This extra width allows for a more stylish and full look.
Hang it Right: Position the curtain rod about 15 centimeters above the top of the window frame. This placement creates an illusion of height and elegance.
Opt for Longer Panels: Don’t settle for short curtain panels. Instead, let the fabric gracefully touch the floor. It adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to your space.
Quality Matters: Invest in a sturdy curtain rod, preferably made of metal or wood. It not only ensures durability but also complements the overall aesthetics.
Block the Light: For a restful sleep, choose curtains or other window systems with blackout features. This way, you can effectively block out the unwanted external light during nighttime hours.
Polish your Look: Take a few minutes to iron the curtain panels for a neat and polished finish. It adds a touch of formality and tidiness to your bedroom decor.
Without a doubt, curtains are essential and can instantly make or break the overall look of your space. You just need to ensure that they look aesthetically pleasing.

Add Your Personal Style
Design goes beyond an aesthetic bedroom and brings us happiness, but not in material things. In fact, material possessions hold no value except for the one we give them. However, what truly holds value are the experiences we have in our spaces, whether personal or with our loved ones.
The right objects can enhance comfort and ease in all areas of your home, but especially in your bedroom.

This is the most intimate space you have in this world, so it should be special and reflect your style.
Fill it with things you love that allow you to engage in activities that relax you. For example, if you love reading, create a cozy reading nook with a comfortable armchair, a side table, and a footrest – the necessary furniture to make it all possible.
If meditation is your thing, set aside a special area with a pleasant-textured rug. If you’re a fashion enthusiast who enjoys makeup, create an area where you can truly enjoy it – well-lit and organized, with all your favorite products at hand.
Likewise, surround yourself with objects you love that have positive meaning for you, reflecting your unique story and essence as a human being. For instance, if you’re a musician, display your instrument and include photos from your travels, special gifts, or anything that holds meaning for you.
Let these objects express themselves and fill your space with memorable reminders of someone or something special. And since we all appreciate attention to detail, let’s not forget the finishing touches.
To me, the cherry on top of bedroom décor is adding a pleasant aroma, a personal scent that you enjoy. Use scented candles, not only to add a lovely fragrance but also as decorative elements. Before going to sleep, you can dim the lights and relax with the warm and cozy glow of your candles.
Essential oils are another natural option to infuse a pleasant aroma into the bedroom.
And my absolute favorite way to add a delightful scent, one that subtly enhances the beauty of the space, is with fresh flowers. Choose flowers with a gentle and delicate fragrance, like lavender or jasmine. More affordable and long-lasting options include natural pine branches and eucalyptus. They not only add beauty but also provide a delightful aroma and a touch of lush greenery.
Use them to decorate your bedside table, vanity, bench by the bed, or your special reading area. I hope these ideas help you create a cozy and aesthetic bedroom where you feel comfortable.
